Fig Farm

Fig Farm

The genesis of our farm dates back to 2010, marking the commencement of a remarkable journey when we planted 200 fig trees, envisioning the transformation of an overgrown plot into a flourishing fig orchard. This endeavor, rooted in passion and dedication, has unfolded as a labor of love, and we are thrilled to unveil the narrative of our evolving venture.

In essence, our farm's narrative is one of growth, adaptation, and a commitment to sustainable practices. The fig orchard, initially a singular focus, is now set to embrace permaculture, becoming a vibrant part of a larger ecosystem that balances productivity with environmental stewardship. As we look ahead, we eagerly anticipate weaving new chapters into the story of our farm, each page telling a tale of resilience, innovation, and a deep-rooted connection to the land.

From Monoculture to Permaculture

Admittedly, our initial foray into fig cultivation resulted in a monoculture, a decision made without the incorporation of permaculture principles.

Recognizing the need for change and sustainability, we are poised to integrate these principles into our orchard, evolving it into a harmonious ecosystem.

Our vision encompasses seeding a diverse array of plants across a vast meadow, creating a haven for bees with an array of Polish flowers and herbs.

15 % for the Wildlife

While the figs have already become a significant contributor to our budget since the commencement of harvesting in 2014, we acknowledge the need to diversify our agricultural practices.

Currently, due to space constraints, we predominantly sell freshly picked figs. Some are sun-dried, and a generous portion is shared with friends and relatives, given the abundance that surpasses our personal consumption.

Approximately 15% is reserved for the local fauna, fostering biodiversity by leaving a portion for birds and insects.

Production Center

Looking forward, we envision expanding our production capabilities. Plans are in motion to establish a small production zone at our farm.

This dedicated space will not only accommodate the cultivation of various fruits but will also serve as the hub for crafting artisanal products.

From jams to dried figs and an array of other fig-related delicacies, our ambition is to elevate the farm into a holistic production center.

Why Figs

Figs hold a special place in the heart of the Mediterranean, and for good reason. As a native fruit tree to the region, figs have been cultivated for centuries, offering both culinary and environmental benefits.
